Mega Blood Donation . . . .

The youth arm of Gayatri Pariwar Mumbai ( GPYGM ) alongwith State Blood Transfusion Council ( Govt. Of
Mahrashtr ) have organised a Mega one day Blood Donation Camp at various centers in Mumbai on 8th Sunday April 2007 .

GPYGM , had inivited other groups of Gayatri Pariwar across the country to observe blood donation camps on the same day to which Bangalore Meerut & Pune agreed thus triggering a nationwide program .

The blood camp was a success and around 500 units were collected cummutaviely. The unique feature of the camp was that along with blood donation certificates, books and magazines related to spirituality and awakening of youth were distributed free of cost as a token of appreciation Over 800 Tulsi saplings were distributed . Selected Guruji’s Sahitya were gifted to all invited dignitaries.

One of the prime objective of this camp was to inspire people to donate blood voluntarily . Create awareness among the people about the noble cause of Blood Donation. According to Dr Vivek Vijay of GPYG-M such camp can provide a platform where youths in Mumbai can share their experiences in voluntary blood donation and establish a regional network among youth donors for information sharing and capacity building.

Preparing for Disasters Gayatri Pariwar , with its current role in the National Blood Programme, will be in a better position to build a ready pool of blood donors in times of emergency or disasters. Regular blood donors could be called upon during such times, where there would be a great need for blood.
